Grilled Cheese Party

The Southern Belle of Santa Barbara had us over for the best family party yet, a grilled cheese party!

Say CHEESE!

I kept trying to get the boys to put their heads together and get closer.  Finally I said, "put your cheeks together" and this is what I got, and I love it!

More cheek to cheek ;)

I love this picture of Jack.  So content with his soup and waiting for his grilled cheese to be ready.

More cuteness from this guy.

And don't forget these girls,

always the life of the party ;)

Thanks for the fun night Holley!

Shoreline

We love going up to Shoreline on the Mesa.  Beach runs, park dates, bike rides and relaxing sunset happy hour dinners at Shoreline CafĂ© with friends.  And it's even better when it is 75+ degrees in Santa Barbara (well at least it was for a few days last week....).

The Haircut

Finally, FINALLY, we have learned how to get Thatcher's hair cut.  For some reason, no matter where we would go or who cuts it (trust me, we've tried from Fantastic Sams to higher end places where we even would get our hair done), he somehow ends up with a bowl-cut.  Remember this one?

We decided to go back to Pete at 19 Blue where he had gotten the cutest cut last year.  I get my hair done at 19 Blue by Kimmie (she is fab!) and she had recommended that Thatcher get his hair cut by Pete.  I think we just figured after that cut we could get it anywhere but the truth is, you can't.  I actually think you can cheap-out on a little girl's cut at Fantastic Sams but you've got to pay for the boys' cuts. Boys need layers! (Thank you Jillian for that tip!) ;)

And I've got to give a shout-out to our buddy Mike Paskin (email me for the password).  We were out to dinner the other night with him and he had the exact same hair-do (Pete does his hair) which reminded us that Pete is the man when it comes to haircuts!  And Todd has been going to Pete too and has an equally cute hair-do.  Three cheers for Pete!

The Tooth Fairy Visited!

Samantha lost her first tooth but it wasn't the way we thought she would have lost her first tooth...

It was an extraction by the dentist.  Long story short, last year she cracked one of her molars when eating a nut and it caused damage all the way to the roots and it began to die. We had two choices, a root canal or extract it.  We went for the extraction.

And have you ever seen someone so happy to get an extraction??  Not only did she get a tooth pulled, she had to get a cavity filled too.  I was really proud of her, she did awesome! She did wince a little bit when getting the Novocaine shots and I think the sound of the drill scared her but the laughing gas they administered kept her calm.  I think I am the one who needed the laughing gas because I had a front row seat for the entire procedure and watching (and hearing) a tooth get pulled was not fun.

All swollen and numb.

The tooth fairy left some fairy dust

and a sparkly five dollar bill! (note: the going rate for the subsequent teeth she loses will be significantly less especially considering the dental bill we now have.....)

The new tooth will not come in until she is about 10 years old,

so she will have to get a metal space maintainer to hold that space so her teeth don't move. :(

CHEESE!

And yes, mid-appointment I blurted out that I'd take her to the toy store. After seeing/hearing the tooth get pulled I couldn't help it.  So far she has no loose teeth so the tooth fairy is hanging up her wings for now but not for long I am sure considering all the five-year-olds I see with missing teeth.

Thatcher Starts Preschool

Our baby started preschool!!!  (I may or may not have bribed him to wear that outfit....)

Up until the past month or so he had no interest in going to preschool.  He was just happy hanging out with me.  Running errands, clocking hours in the gym Kids Club, park dates, zoo trips and then as my schedule got busier, he was plopped in front of the TV more than he should have been.....

Samantha was excited to come with us on his first day of school.

No tears, no worries and not even a kiss or hug goodbye!  He just started playing and basically showed us the door...

He talks non-stop about this little boy named River.

Special race car and Spider-Man drawing from daddy in his lunch (mommy can't draw that way....)

The right side of the refrigerator is now displaying Thatcher's artwork

On his second day of school,  River wore the same Superman shirt as Thatcher.  You should have seen their faces when they realized they were wearing the same shirt.  Too cute!

He's enjoying it so much but is absolutely exhausted after I pick him up.  Trying to keep him awake to sync his nap with Samantha's hasn't been all that successful yet.  I guess Lollipop is on the same napping schedule though...

Depending on how our morning goes, on days when they both go to school, sometimes Samantha gets to be dropped off second.  There are not too many of her friends left at the school from when she was there but she still gets a kick out of dropping her brother off.

And check-out Thatcher's new Batman lunch sack.  It didn't arrive in time for his first day of school but as you can see in the photo above this one, it came with a cape on it! How cute is that?!

And here is little Sammie on her first day of preschool, exactly the same age as Thatcher is now.

Thatcher only goes two half-days a week so I still have my little buddy to pal around with me on most days which is fine by me.  :)
