The Haircut

Finally, FINALLY, we have learned how to get Thatcher's hair cut.  For some reason, no matter where we would go or who cuts it (trust me, we've tried from Fantastic Sams to higher end places where we even would get our hair done), he somehow ends up with a bowl-cut.  Remember this one? 

 

We decided to go back to Pete at 19 Blue where he had gotten the cutest cut last year.  I get my hair done at 19 Blue by Kimmie (she is fab!) and she had recommended that Thatcher get his hair cut by Pete.  I think we just figured after that cut we could get it anywhere but the truth is, you can't.  I actually think you can cheap-out on a little girl's cut at Fantastic Sams but you've got to pay for the boys' cuts. Boys need layers! (Thank you Jillian for that tip!) ;)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And I've got to give a shout-out to our buddy Mike Paskin (email me for the password).  We were out to dinner the other night with him and he had the exact same hair-do (Pete does his hair) which reminded us that Pete is the man when it comes to haircuts!  And Todd has been going to Pete too and has an equally cute hair-do.  Three cheers for Pete!

Haircut

 

 

Thatcher needed a haircut and I tried our luck with a local barber shop here in town again.  He got a great cut there a few months back.  This time it was just as quick and just as cheap.  He got to watch cartoons on the big screen TV and enjoyed a lollipop.  We left the shop with what looked to be a cute cut, all styled with hair gel. 

 

But then as it dried...

 

It looked a bit crooked.

 

and a bit "bowl-ish"

 

and then I realized....

Thankfully sweet Sarah has some skills with scissors and helped fix my boy.

Thatcher's New Do

So, my luck ran out with the fantastic haircuts at Fantastic Sams.....

A few months ago I took Thatcher back there to have his haircut

and within the time it took me to snap this picture, he had a complete bowl around his head.  I'm talking a really, REALLY bad bowl haircut.  I think it is funny that both Thatcher and the lady cutting his hair are all smiles because I was completely mortified!

We ended up having a friend "un-bowl" it the best she could and then a few weeks ago I took him in to 19 Blue and said, "Cut it and make it SHORT!" I wanted no trace of the bowl.

Not only did he remove the bowl and cut it short, he added on about 2 years to Thatcher's age!  My baby boy was no longer looking like a baby. :(

 

I will say, he is looking very handsome with his new do!

Fantastic Haircuts

Both kids were long overdue for haircuts so on Saturday morning we took the kids to the only place we could think of that would take two kids, without a wait, and for cheap.  The choices were Fantastic Sams or Supercuts.  Which one do you think Sam chose? 

I'm not going to lie, I was a little scared of how it would turn out but we could no longer see Thatcher's eyes and Samantha's hair needed some TLC.  Plus, I kept saying I was going to attempt to cut their hair which I'm sure would have turned out worse.

And we were pleasantly surprised by the good job they did.  Fantastic Sams really was fantastic (and cheap and no wait)!

Thatcher's First Haircut

Since you could no longer see Thatcher's big brown eyes unless he had a barrette in his hair, we figured it was time for a haircut.  My parents made a surprise visit to Santa Barbara this weekend and Grandma made Thatcher more handsome than he already was.
