Random Pictures of the Kids

It is freaky how much Sam and Thatcher look like each other, especially when he is wearing a clip in his hair....

Before I know it, this little guy will be stretched out in a toddler bed so I thought I better get one of him all curled up napping in the crib.

Thatcher's first time to the Natural History Museum.  He ran around screaming (he liked hearing his voice echo) and banging on the glass exhibits.

We were "tourist" for the day and gave in to buying Sam a balloon on State St. We made it about 2 blocks before it popped.
I'd say that we've got about 2 more pounds until he breaks our warming drawer....(I've never used it anyways). And no, our kitchen cabinets are not supposed to be two different colors....

 Folding laundry
What?! Folding laundry?  Yes, she thinks it is fun and she does a good job at it.
And one more photo of her folding laundry.  That is how much I like it!

Easter 2011

Egg decorating, Easter baskets, egg hunting, brunch with friends, a PEEP race and perfect weather!  It felt like Christmas without all the stress!

Enjoy the pictures:

The Caveman

So, I know they say not to compare your kids because, "every child is different", but we totally compare our two over here, it is hard not to. Basically, Thatcher speaks Caveman and Samantha at his age was pretty articulate with words.   We aren't sure if it is because we've heard boys don't talk as soon as girls or that the older sibling does the talking for the younger one or we talk to him less because he is our second, who knows?!

Besides grunting, he can say "Uh-Oh", "Ball", "Bye Bye", "Hi" ,"No No" "Ma Ma" and "Da Da".   "Ma Ma" is also said for other things like when he wants something to eat which entails banging on the refrigerator door very Caveman-like.  I actually think he may be trying to say "More" but I am not sure because the majority of the time it is "Ma".  Other than that, he does a lot of squealing, making funny faces and more grunting.

Take a look for yourself:

Watching Movies

I love this photo. Sister and brother watching a movie together (well to be honest, Thatcher happened to sit next to her for a few seconds and I snapped a picture).

The Wizard of Oz is the current favorite in our household right now.  I've introduced Samantha to Annie and The Sound of Music.  I love that she likes to dance and sing to these movies.  Plus, it is such a breath of fresh air from Dora, Max and Ruby, Curious George, and Little Bear. And what's up with all the commercials on Nick Jr.?!

Sam: "Mom, will you buy me a Pillow Pet?"
Me: "You already have one."
Sam: "But I don't have the unicorn one."
Me: "Maybe for your birthday."
5 minutes later....
Sam: "Will you buy me a Happy Napper?"
Me: "A what?"
Sam: "It is a pillow that is a pet."
Me: "Isn't that a Pillow Pet?"
Sam: "No, it is different, it is a Happy Napper."
Me: "Maybe for Christmas...."
Sam: "I sure like those Lelli Kelly's shoes and they come with a cell phone that has make-up in it!"

Then a Polly Pocket, Barbie or some other Mattel treasure comes on the screen and we start over.....

By the way, when these Munchkins appeared on the screen Samantha yelled, "Those little boys sure look a lot like Thatchie!"

I hope not  :(

Finally Sharing a Room!

We FINALLY took the plunge and have the two kids sleeping in the same room at night.  We put Thatcher to bed first around 7 (in a CRIB not a pack-n-play) and about an hour (or two) later, Samantha tip-toes in the room.   After a quick look under her pillow to see what the Tooth Fairy left her (yes, we have bribed her) which is usually a penny, a piece of gum or some other trinket I find around the house, she is fast asleep. Oh and she knows that if she misbehaves at all during the day, the Tooth Fairy is called and told not to visit.  Let's just say that she has been a pretty perfect princess lately.

In looking back, we probably should have merged the two sooner.  Even on nights when Thatcher wakes up and cries, he never wakes up Sam.  And the best part about it is how much fun they have together.  Around 7 AM each morning we can hear them chatting away and playing together in Thatcher's crib.

Look how cute these two sleepyheads are in the morning :)

The Exhibitionist

I hope this, "I can take my own diaper off" thing doesn't become a habit......

"Playing" Together

Sam adorned Thatcher with Disney Princess stickers.

Little Stinker!

How soon till Thatcher takes revenge on her?

For now, he doesn't seem to mind,

so much so that he continued to put more stickers on himself!

The Ice Cream Man

It was 90 degrees. I heard the bells coming down our street. I caved.  I flagged down the ice cream man and let the kids pick out something.

 Samantha chose Dora.

 Thatcher chose Tweety Bird.

And then I began to feel really old.

It seemed like ages ago that I would get a Push-Up or better yet remember Buried Treasures?

After you finished it the stick would have some sort of character on it.

Which leads me to another reason why I felt old......  Samantha didn't know who Tweety Bird was, she kept telling me it was Sponge Bob!

He's laughing at me!!!!!!!!!!

What's Up at Preschool

Sam's class planted seeds and she chose to plant broccoli.  She was so proud to show me that hers was one of the first to sprout (last one on the right).  I told her she had a "green thumb" which after I said that I realized I made a mistake since everything is taken so literally to a 3 year old. "No Sam, you don't REALLY have a thumb that is green.....".  20 minutes later, "Mom, is my thumb turning green now? How about now? NOW?"

You should hear her belt out some of her Hip Hop rhymes.  We may have an American Idol on our hands.

Sam's Tadpole
Spring Water Colors

Notes from the teacher are my favorite to find in her cubby

And finally, this is what she brought home today.  A pretty good shiner on her right eye.

"WHAT HAPPENED?!"

"I'm okay Mom.  Connor and I were pretending to be Jets and I crashed."
