While the girls are on the floor doing their gymnastics class, the boys, Thatcher and Jack, keep Sarah and I on our toes with various antics. We try and keep them stationary in the stands with an extraordinary amount of snacks (from healthy to the good stuff like lollipops), smart phone games, books and trucks. When those things fail, they start running all over the place in a space that is far from toddler-friendly. How long before we can put these two in some sort of organized activity?!
For the start of the new year we offered Samantha a choice of doing some sort of activity (ballet, gymnastics, soccer etc.) and her first choice was hip-hop dancing and her second choice was tap dancing. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a dance school that had days/times that worked for us so we went with her third choice and enrolled her in gymnastics again at Girl's Inc.
What a difference a few months makes! Her confidence level is so much higher. She has gotten better at pointing her toes and straightening her legs. She can climb up and walk across the high beam unassisted. She has also slowed down. Last time we did gymnastics she would rush through each exercise and I would be in the stands like a crazy lady trying to get her attention to SLOW DOWN! Her coach, Jenna, has been working with her to understand that it isn't a race and to give the person in front of her some space. I'm also loving the fact that so far her class has only had one or two other girls in it (one of which is her friend Presley). She is getting a lot more special attention this time around.
Samantha finished up her session at Girl's Inc gymnastics a few weeks ago. We ended up taking a break for the summer because of our schedule but are looking forward to enrolling again very soon.
