On the way to SBA en route to the snow. ❄️
Cousin Lauren (who by the way is in her first year of college now since I'm so behind on this blog!)
Ski lesson at the neighborhood hill. Conditions look great! 😆
Uncle Rick was on a mission to skip ski lessons at the resort and just teach the kids on his own.
We probably should have used a helmet during the ski lesson.

Off to Vail the next morning!
Todd at the wheel about to hit a snow storm.
Getting some encouragement from our caravan.
So organized when not at home!
What kid doesn't love a loft bed?!
Lionshead Village for ice skating.
Ready to hit the mountain. 🤪😂
Sam got a 5-minute ski lesson. We saved a couple thousand skipping Vail ski school but did we make the right choice?! 🤣
A couple times down the bunny hill doing pizza and french fries.
Graduated to the beginner lift.
Lunch break in Henry's Hut.
Proud of these two. They both got the hang of it but as it goes with skiing, you can't ski in a group with different levels and satisfy everyone with what run to go on. So, Thatcher graduated with the seasoned skiers and Sam and I went off on our own which I love! Sam and I have our own ski routine that we've kept up now for the past three years 💗
We stick to the greens/blues, take plenty of breaks and make our way from one end of the mountain to the other leisurely.
Saying our goodbyes before we meet up for Apres Ski
First time skiing success!
Back at it again the next day.
It was about right here after day two of skiing that we thought Sam was coming down with some sort of bug. This was just at the start of hearing rumblings of how rampant the flu was...
We said goodbye to Vail and made our way back to Lone Tree.
Sam felt better but not 100%. But well enough to bake.
And then miserable on the morning we needed to fly home. 😢
We made it to the airport.
We managed to get Sam on the plane which was pre-pandemic masking 😬
What's crazy is as soon as we were about a half hour from SB, Sam felt 100% better. Not one symptom. It was altitude sickness! Not sure why it happened so late in the trip but we are glad it was such a short stint. And now for all mountain trips, we've got prescription meds that actually make her feel awful taking them but not as awful as actual altitude sickness. So it wasn't Coronavirus which was soon to become a thing...
