Mr. and Mrs. Ziets

Saturday evening we attended Adam and Sabrina's wedding at Leadbetter Beach.  We had not been to a wedding in a LONG time!  It was so fun to catch up with old friends and celebrate the happy couple.

Kids were invited and got to sit right up front to watch the nuptials.  Thatcher was such a good boy during the ceremony, after the ceremony is a different story ;)

Adam's vows were really sweet and funny.  Here he is telling Sabrina how much he looks up to her, both literally and physically.  Everyone was laughing.

Congrats Adam and Sabrina!

Sammy with our friend Claire and her daughter, Mia

Sammy got to see her little friend Mia who plays "Charlie" on the Disney show "Good Luck Charlie".  Mia was tired from all the "tweens" chasing her around wanting to meet her, so she wasn't up for taking pictures.  Ahhhhh the life of a TV star ;)

Princess Spa Day

Last Saturday, Samantha and I went and had our nails done together.  There is a little place in Goleta called Kim Nails and Spa that has a couple of cute spa chairs perfect for little princesses.

I love the dates we have together!

18 Month Check-Up

Thatcher turned 18 months a couple weeks ago and last week he had his 18 month check-up.

This was the best photo I could get of him "sitting" in the scale.  He is not much for sitting still these days.

18 Month Stats:
32 inches tall - 40%
23 pounds - 20%

Samantha at 18 Months:
32 inches tall - 80%
23 pounds - 40%

They had the EXACT same measurements!  I guess Thatcher is just a little smaller percentage wise for a boy.

Thatcher really likes Dr. Abbott.  He smiled and chatted throughout the whole appointment.  He was not too happy about his flu shot but got over it quickly.

The lollipop helped.

Such a happy little guy!

Cast Off!

Last Monday Samantha got her cast off.

Final pose before it was time to remove it.

Thatcher was actually pretty well behaved this time around at the doctor's office.

Literally sawing off the cast.
It was VERY loud.
TA DA!  Not quite completely healed but the doctor said it was where it should be at this point.  We go back in a month for one more X-Ray.

The lollipops they give out at this doctor's office have little feet on the end.

Fingers crossed we have no more broken bones, EVER!

Touch-A-Truck

Last weekend the organization that I volunteer for, PEP (by the way, check out our NEW website), put on their 1st Annual Touch-A-Truck fundraiser.  Families were invited to come and explore all sorts of different vehicles.  Kids were able to climb in, touch, honk horns and take lots of photos on all the different vehicles.  There was a trolley, bus, police car, big rig, tractor, trailer, scooter, ambulance and a trash truck, to name a few.....

I volunteered to make all the signs for the event which in turn meant I volunteered Todd to make all the signs ;)

My task was to sell construction hats and monster truck temporary tattoos at the event.
Thatcher and Sam did some testing of the hats pre-event

I had to work the event so Todd was in charge of the kids (Connor came along with us too).

Little Ms. Reese

The only time I EVER want to see Sam in the back of a police car is at a Touch-A-Truck event ;)

Looking forward to next year!

My Fairytale Nightmare

Our dear friend Holley invited Samantha to see the play, My Fairytale, at the Solvang Festival Theater.  This was her first LIVE play and she was so excited to go!

Before the show they stopped and had dinner at Hadsten House in Solvang.

Grape juice???
Ready for the show!

Unfortunately, the play wasn't exactly a fairytale for children or really a fairytale at all.  There was a short scene with the Little Mermaid but that quickly changed to a man getting picked apart by birds chanting, "I'm going to peck your eyes out and kill you," which was apparently tame compared to some of the other "un-fairytale-ish" scenes.  Some play, huh?

At one point, Samantha kept asking Holley, "Are they going to get us?" and Holley thought she was saying "Are they going to get out?"  So, Holley kept saying "YES, YES!" Poor Samantha was so frightened thinking the actors on stage were going to get her.  And poor Holley, she thought she was taking little Samantha on a special date to her first "Disney-ish" play.

They ended up leaving the play and instead enjoyed some hot cocoa together at the concession area.  Samantha was all smiles when they got home.  I think she was more excited to do something special with Holley and stay out late.  I think Holley may have been more traumatized than Samantha.

Thanks Holley for taking Sam!  Even though the play didn't turn out how you thought it would, she (and we) are ready for you to take her on her next adventure - Rated G next time ;)
