Samantha started her first day of Transitional Kindergarten (TK) this past Monday. We went out school shopping the day before and you can't tell from the photo but those are high-top, sparkly, purple tennis shoes. That was the only thing she insisted on having. The rest I got to pick out. She loved those shoes so much, she slept with them in her arms the night before!

For the first 5 weeks, TK only goes until 12:10. Then it will move to a 2:10 dismissal. And then I will be freaking out over what to do about her nap, Thatcher's nap, skipping naps, giving up naps, forcing late naps...
Samantha was VERY excited that she was assigned Line Leader for the first week. Ask her about it when you see her. I had no idea the complexities that go into being a Line Leader, Samantha was very quick to tell me the ins and outs of her job. This is the perfect job for the little boss. ;)
We are actually already playing hooky from school tomorrow for the kids to go see Grandma and Papa, and while she was fine with missing her third day of school, she was not so fine with having someone else take her position as Line Leader. I assured her that she would have her job back on Thursday - I hope that is the case or else someone is going to get an earful from the boss.

To make sure the kids get home safely, they all have to wear a nametag when dismissed that tells the staff how they are getting home. So many little ones ride the bus AND eat in the cafeteria! We've got Back to School Night and Parent/Teacher conferences coming up - we are not in preschool anymore!
Samantha with the principal, Mrs. Alzina. We really, REALLY like the principal. She has been very hands-on with helping us navigate the new program and making us feel welcome.
Day Two
I didn't get a chance to take a picture of Sam and Ms. Trainor the first day.
Samantha has already found a buddy. This is Charlotte. These two came out laughing and chatting the first day of school. By day two, they were already asking her mom and I if they could have a play date.
All of the activity stations are brand new. In fact, every single item in the TK classroom is new.
Luke and Samantha gave us parents a puppet show at pick-up today.
First homework assignment:
Please cut these alphabet letters along the lines and use them as flash cards. Put them in alphabetical order and sing the alphabet song; use the cards face down, flip them over, and say the letter name; use them as a guide when writing the letters.
Will she always be this excited to do homework?! I doubt it.... For now it is nice for her to have an activity to do while we get her brother to go to bed.
