This is what happens when Mommy doesn't feel like cooking........

Both kids are already bathed and in their pj's and we go out for pizza.  I won't even mention how late it was.....

Poor Thatchy almost fell asleep in his high chair and of course Party Girl Sammie thought it was pretty cool to play video games and eat pizza when she is normally in bed.

That's the face of TROUBLE!

Earrings!

CLIP Earrings (don't freak out Mom)!

I'd say the only problem with having a 9 year old neighbor that comes over all the time is that everything she has, Samantha wants.  Whether it be getting her ears pierced, getting those feather hair things that all the kids are wearing, temporary tattoos on the lower back (no thank you!), makeup and so on and so forth, I am constantly saying, "you are not old enough."

Last weekend Samantha and I had a date with just the two of us, actually the three of us because Lollipop came too, and after our day at Elings Park, I took her to the store she thinks is the absolute greatest thing on the planet, Claire's.  I gave her a choice, a feather to be sewn in her hair or clip earrings.  After a lot of back and forth and some manipulation of trying to get both, she went for the sparkly, blue butterfly earrings.

Once I put the earrings on her she had a grin that would not go away.  When we got home she couldn't wait to show Daddy.  And then, about a half  hour into  wearing them, she lost one of them.

Guess where we found it?!  In Thatcher's ear!  No, just kidding.  His mouth though.....

So as of right now, she still owns a pair and I am going to say that by far this has been the most coveted possession she has ever had.  I think it surpasses gum and lip gloss by just a smidgen.

I am not sure when we will let Samantha get her ears pierced.  I am leaning towards waiting until she can properly take care of them herself.  I think I was in junior high before my parents let me.  And then shortly after that I remember my sister taking me to the mall and we made a stop at Merle Norman (remember that store?! Actually I just googled it to find it is still around, who knew?!)  and I some how left the store with multiple piercings up my ear.  I vaguely remember we forged a note saying that our mom said it was okay, or did my sister have an ID that said she was 18? Or did we say she was my mom? Or maybe you only had to be 16 back then?? I can't remember. I do remember that I made a bee-line straight for my room when we got home and covered my ears with my hair so my parents couldn't see.

Just so you know, Samantha, you will never be old enough for real tattoos or multiple piercings, EVER! ;)

Santa Barbara Fair

We had the best time at the fair this past Saturday.  I have to say that I was a bit skeptical that it was going to be dirty, expensive and a complete bust but honestly it wasn't.

Samantha LOVES the Wizard of Oz so we lucked out on the theme this year.

How cute are these alpacas?

Fuzzy alpacas!

These little goats were about a week old.  You could still see their umbilical cords!

They were so friendly and sweet.

I had to get a video of them.  They were all still learning how to walk.

Who knew goats produced so much milk?!

Speaking of milk....
Thatcher enjoyed dancing to all the music that was blaring from each ride.
The car ride was Sam's favorite.

While Samantha enjoyed the cardboard Oz people, she was on the hunt to meet the real Dorothy.  I think she was under the impression that we were at a Disneyland-like place....

Samantha happily volunteered to be the Science Guy's sidekick.

Good old fashioned Fair food - Tri Tip Sandwiches, Fries and Beer.

We FINALLY found Dorothy.  Sam didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that she was cardboard too.

Tempted to try these.....

But we went for the cotton candy instead.

And yes, that is ME on that ride.  We had a bunch of ride tickets left over so Todd and I thought we would select the "least scary" ride.  Our rationale for choosing the Fire Ball was because you don't go upside down.  Apparently we weren't paying close attention to the previous riders because we were wrong.  There was a point that I was sure I was going to end up on the 101 freeway or everyone was going to know what I had for lunch.  When I got off the ride I was shaking and my knees were buckling making it hard for me to walk.

As you can tell from Todd's expression and his hands in the air, he had a different experience than me.

  Until next year....

Fun in the Sun

I am posting this picture of our rose bushes in hopes that it makes up for our dead grass.

Better yet, we finished our garden box project this weekend!  We planted several varieties of tomatoes, bell peppers, strawberries, artichokes, cucumbers, radishes, jalapenos, Japanese eggplant, onions, garlic and a bunch of herbs: parsley, cilantro, basil, sage, chives, rosemary, thyme, oregano, dill and mint.

Random Pictures of the Kids

It is freaky how much Sam and Thatcher look like each other, especially when he is wearing a clip in his hair....

Before I know it, this little guy will be stretched out in a toddler bed so I thought I better get one of him all curled up napping in the crib.

Thatcher's first time to the Natural History Museum.  He ran around screaming (he liked hearing his voice echo) and banging on the glass exhibits.

We were "tourist" for the day and gave in to buying Sam a balloon on State St. We made it about 2 blocks before it popped.
I'd say that we've got about 2 more pounds until he breaks our warming drawer....(I've never used it anyways). And no, our kitchen cabinets are not supposed to be two different colors....

 Folding laundry
What?! Folding laundry?  Yes, she thinks it is fun and she does a good job at it.
And one more photo of her folding laundry.  That is how much I like it!
