Peabody Variety Show 2020

A milestone of 6th grade at Peabody is you are eligible to be the hosts of the variety show. Somehow we pulled off a remote hosting gig. 🤷‍♀️

Peabody Talent Show 2019

I got to play Momager again for the Peabody talent show and I choreographed a routine for Samantha, Stella, Lauren, Charlotte and Thatcher dancing to songs from the 60s through today including kicking off the routine with a nod to Lauren's grandfather who is Davey Jones of the Monkees!

Here's a look at one of our practice sessions.

The performance!

The Peabody talent show is always a sold out evening event with parents and students so it's not easy getting up there. I'm so proud of Lila who performed a flamenco solo!

Peabody Talent Show 2018

One of my favorite events of the year at our school is the Peabody Talent Show. It is also the one time my cheerleading days come in handy when I get to be lead choreographer for the group. Sam gets a little embarrassed of me running things but her sweet friends are always like, "I love what your mom made up for our routine!" 😂

We had a lot of work ahead of us. The fifth member of our group, Stella, had to learn the routine via video because she was tied up every day in the Peabody play that was happening at the same time.

Proud of Lila for trying out her first year at Peabody!

We still had a long ways to go, but they made the cut!

Outfits arrived!

Still working on what Thatcher was going to wear.

Things started to come together!

Almost show time!

Love that these sweet girls will still include Thatcher in their routine. (And that Thatcher will still be in it!)

I needed a little more time and we could have perfected Thatcher's moonwalk but he made up for it with his flossing. ðŸ•º

Peabody Talent Show 2017

The fabulous FIVE were back for another Peabody Talent Show. The girls really, REALLY, wanted Thatcher in their dance again this year. Which is surprising because of the "annoying little brother" issues we have at times.

Video: First practice

As if I had to tell everyone reading this that I choreographed the dance, but just in case, yep, I did. ;)

We only had a few days to make up a routine for the try-outs and while I tried to keep my "Dance Mom" mentality out of it, the four girls were SUPER disagreeable with each other on which moves to do, who was positioned where, what music they would do, what they would wear and on and on. I stepped in, took charge and well, it didn't turn out too bad. There were definitely some tears from some of the group when I didn't let them keep some of their original moves but we had to get this thing moving AND GET PAST THE TRY-OUTS! And it was MY DREAM to be on stage! j/k But really, four 9-year-old girls trying to make a decision together on a dance routine was pretty painful.

Video: MOM-ager videoing for the rest of the group.

Yes, after our first practice, we had to do some video lessons.

However, I quickly learned that Stella's mom, Jenny, is MOM-ager #2.

The Try-Outs!

Feedback from the judges American Idol-style.

I couldn't help including this. How cute is this group of MOM-agers?

And......................

They made it!

Just a couple of kids getting ready in their GOLD pants!

So the original plan was to have Thatcher in a different outfit, however when he found out that I was looking for something other than the gold pants the girls were wearing, he wasn't having it. He also wanted the gold pants. And a gold chain AND a gold rhinestone hat. So, there ya go!

At what age does the duck-lip-peace-sign go away?

Video: And here they are, the STARS of the show! ;)

Video: And, I can't forget the other stars.

Seriously, this is one of my favorite events of the year, how talented, sweet, unique and fun are all these acts?!

Wrap party at Harry's!

Looks like some of the talent show judges had the same idea!

Yes, Thatcher wore his gold rhinestone hat to school the next day. He wanted to wear the pants but I told him to save those for a later date. Which he did. Stay tuned on that.

I hope you make the cut for next year's show with your sister but if not, I have a feeling he'd be fine on his own performing  ;)

Peabody Talent Show 2016

This would be known as Samantha's Squad at Peabody. Char Char, Lo Lo, Stella and Sam are pretty much inseparable. Despite my insistence that she should play the piano in the talent show again this year, I was outvoted and these four made up a dance routine.

The Try-Out.

Younger siblings there in support.

The dance in its infancy.

(they made it past the try-outs. shhhhhh, I think everyone does) ;)

Then the real practicing began. And Stella's mom, Jenny, is more of a cheer/dance mom than I ever was. ;)

The shiniest pants I've ever seen were ordered.

Costumes were put together.

And then this happened. The two younger siblings, Thatcher and Juliana, were game to join THE SQUAD!

A look at how the routine evolved over the course of a couple of weeks before showtime.

The fiesta caboodle of makeup came out on show night. ;)

Sold out show!

Ready to go on stage!

They kicked off the show as the opening act. Even with a little music technical difficulty towards the end they kept things moving and were a hit!

Hopefully these two perform every year in the show! Not sure how much longer I will be able to get Thatcher to wear pants like that and dance like he did.

Celebratory dinner at Mesa Cafe!

Here's a look at some of the other talent at the school. Definitely one of my favorite events at Peabody each year!
