Student of the Month

One of our proudest moments of Samantha's kindergarten experience so far was when she was awarded Student of the Month this past December.  Her teacher emailed us to keep it a secret from Samantha and that she would be presented with the award at a school assembly.

Todd unfortunately was not able to make it but Jack was ;)  The boys were really funny.  I had coached them before the assembly that we had to sneak onto the school without Samantha seeing us so we could keep it a surprise.  It was recess when we arrived so we were doing all sorts of stealth moves, hiding behind trees, running past open gates, turning our backs and side stepping until we finally reached the kindergarten room where the students couldn't see us but we could see them through the windows because of the bright sun.  Thatch and Jack were yelling, "There she is!  SAMMY! SAMANTHA!"  Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Samantha still had not seen us in the crowded back of the room when all the students arrived.  Mr. Barnett, the principal, spoke about how proud he was of all the students especially the select few that were picked for this month's Student of the Month theme of "Being a Good Citizen" award.

The audio is a little low and the sunlit room was not very conducive for a video but hearing Samantha's teacher, Mrs. Mulligan, saying such special things about Samantha got me a little emotional.  My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard.  The boys and I were waving like crazy people in the back of the room and Samantha gave us a shy wave, acting quite cool as if she was accustomed to being awarded on stage in front of her peers or maybe she wanted the lunatics in the back to stop making a spectacle.

Proud brothers with their sister ;)

So SO proud of this girl!
