Peabody Talent Show 2018

One of my favorite events of the year at our school is the Peabody Talent Show. It is also the one time my cheerleading days come in handy when I get to be lead choreographer for the group. Sam gets a little embarrassed of me running things but her sweet friends are always like, "I love what your mom made up for our routine!" 😂

We had a lot of work ahead of us. The fifth member of our group, Stella, had to learn the routine via video because she was tied up every day in the Peabody play that was happening at the same time.

Proud of Lila for trying out her first year at Peabody!

We still had a long ways to go, but they made the cut!

Outfits arrived!

Still working on what Thatcher was going to wear.

Things started to come together!

Almost show time!

Love that these sweet girls will still include Thatcher in their routine. (And that Thatcher will still be in it!)

I needed a little more time and we could have perfected Thatcher's moonwalk but he made up for it with his flossing. 🕺

4th and 2nd Grade: Winter Quarter

All the things that happened in the middle of fourth and second grade:

Thatcher continued to write all the answers and never show his work...

If Mrs. Wilcox asked him out loud to "explain" he would rattle the answer off but then always follow up with another question, questioning the original question.

Why? How? Thatcher, please write something!

Sam's life still revolved around friends, sports, reading, music and...

Slime!

I thought this was so cute. Watch out Hastings family, Sam is moving in!

Another sweet sentiment of their friendship. ❤️

Sam make actually have this on her car one day.

I was happy to see that he likes to express himself playing the piano! 🎼

Me too!

I want to frame this one 💜

The slime theme was going strong in 4th grade!

Sam also proved that she was a writer!

Love when a teacher makes a kid write an apology note and Aimee better watch it making fun of my kid. 😝

Sam got straight A's again. 😁

And Thatcher, while improving in some spots, went down in others.

To which I had the LONGEST parent/teacher conference ever where his teacher told me that she finds him to be one of the top math students in the class but when testing and needing him to spend time on his work, per usual, he has one foot out the door to recess. Verbally, he will get everything right. She also said she finds pages missing from his assignments/tests and they are crumpled up in his desk. Again, it is to finish quickly and get out the door. Hence, the grades aren't looking great. He's bored.

Which explained this and which has helped us understand what Thatcher needs going forward and what teacher/school is the best fit for him. We are hoping the change in learning he is receiving this year in third grade will do the trick but we have other options as well, if needed.

Thatcher Turns 8!

Our baby is 8!

Birthday Breakfast!

Samantha has been making Thatcher's breakfast every school morning for over a year now. I can't say that it always looks the best but she sets her alarm to wake up school mornings at 6:30AM and makes both her and Thatcher's breakfast (she gets his order the night before). Neither kid is a morning person so this is a BIG task she does. And while I'd like to say it is because she is the best big sister ever (it is some of that for sure), she also DOES NOT LIKE TO BE LATE anywhere especially school or sports. So, this is her way of making sure everyone stays on task in the morning and I am quite proud of her. 😇

Okay, now back to the birthday boy. 😊

We opened some gifts.

He had a second grade celebration.

The kids went around the room saying something nice to Thatcher. I showed up on time to his celebration but they ended up starting his celebration early so I missed what all the kids said but the last little girl, Alina, was so cute!

Sam joined us for cupcakes.

And this year all Thatcher wanted was a party for two and the guest of honor, Jack! How did I get so lucky with what turned out to be the easiest party ever?!

First stop, Cloud 10!

The place was empty so the few staff they had were following us around and one of the rules is you can't hang on the rim after you dunk. Well, Thunder and Lightening couldn't quite grasp that rule so we were ushered out of the basketball area. 😬

We took a break for Dippin' Dots

Jack was a little concerned on the position he got himself into.

Not too worry, Thatcher's got his buddy. 👬

He could have chosen any restaurant for his birthday dinner but chose to stick close to home and have Mesa Cafe.

Trying desperately to perfect this trick.

Finally!

Jack was convinced we couldn't see his hand. 😂

They split Thatcher's favorite sandwich, The Yater.

I mean...

We bumped into Mr. Silva which was a nice surprise!

Gift time!

They brought Thatcher out flan. It's definitely an acquired taste and he was ready for Lovin' Spoonful immediately.

They couldn't let this pose go! And look who is on the screen behind them!

One last celebration with the Yankees at Thatcher's baseball game the next day.

Yes, I know, I need some birthday themed trays.

And that was the end of the easiest birthday celebration ever. Makes me kind of scared for what he is going to ask for when he turns nine. 😆
