All the things that happened in the middle of fourth and second grade:
Thatcher continued to write all the answers and never show his work...
If Mrs. Wilcox asked him out loud to "explain" he would rattle the answer off but then always follow up with another question, questioning the original question.
Why? How? Thatcher, please write something!
Sam's life still revolved around friends, sports, reading, music and...
Slime!
I thought this was so cute. Watch out Hastings family, Sam is moving in!
Another sweet sentiment of their friendship. ❤️
Sam make actually have this on her car one day.
I was happy to see that he likes to express himself playing the piano! 🎼
Me too!
I want to frame this one 💜
The slime theme was going strong in 4th grade!
Sam also proved that she was a writer!
Love when a teacher makes a kid write an apology note and Aimee better watch it making fun of my kid. 😝
Sam got straight A's again. 😁
And Thatcher, while improving in some spots, went down in others.
To which I had the LONGEST parent/teacher conference ever where his teacher told me that she finds him to be one of the top math students in the class but when testing and needing him to spend time on his work, per usual, he has one foot out the door to recess. Verbally, he will get everything right. She also said she finds pages missing from his assignments/tests and they are crumpled up in his desk. Again, it is to finish quickly and get out the door. Hence, the grades aren't looking great. He's bored.
Which explained this and which has helped us understand what Thatcher needs going forward and what teacher/school is the best fit for him. We are hoping the change in learning he is receiving this year in third grade will do the trick but we have other options as well, if needed.
