Super Bowl 4-Miler

Samantha and Charlotte ran in the Super Bowl 4-Miler!

It was a nice jog along the waterfront for two miles and then you turn around and go back.

The girls were chatting away for the first two miles.

There was a little less chatting on the way back.

Everyone finished! (The boys were super fast!)

Ronda Fallon 38F Santa Barbara 43:00 10:45 13/21 Wom_30-39

She beat me by 10 seconds ;)

Donuts definitely earned that morning!

Next up, watching the Super Bowl with friends!

Not that anyone really watched the game....

The half time show sparked a little interest.

And as usual, we closed the party down.

Thanks Pirozzi's for hosting!

State Street Mile

These sweet kids all ran the State Street Mile a few weeks ago. This year we skipped the family race and just had the kids run the 14 and under category. In full disclosure, the Paskin and Fallon families decided the night before that they might do it and arrived to the race about 15 minutes before it started. One time down State Street is enough when you are half awake.

Thatcher hasn't learned the "pace yourself" rule of running a race. He sprinted out as fast as he could and then looked over at me with a worried look.

I was thankful to see Mike and Jack coming right up behind Thatcher as I feared he was about to have a meltdown.

Thatcher was back on track running with Jack by his side.

Last year Samantha was the fastest 6-year-old in the 14 and under category running an 8:14. This year, Samantha was the fastest in her age group again running a 7:20. Proud of our little Thatcher too running a 9:57 for his first time in this category. And actual photo evidence above shows both of our kids finishing a second faster than recorded but I'll hold the correction submission for a race over a mile. ;)

Cheers to the post-race celebration at the Mesa Cafe!

Peabody Fun Run

Samantha ran her longest race to date, a 5K, in the Peabody Fun Run held a few weeks ago.

Starting line!

and 3.1 miles later, the finish!

I wasn't letting her beat me in. My limited amount of race knowledge I did pass down to her, "start off slow, pace yourself and sprint into the finish!" She left me in the dust as we neared the finish line.

This was near Halloween so there was a "costume optional" thing going on that we didn't subscribe to.

No big deal, 3 mile race done at 6-years-old.

Official time: 32:05  There were moments when she asked to walk but we persevered otherwise known as me grabbing her hand and dragging her a bit saying, "no walking, we are going to make it the entire way running no matter what pace." ;)

And my MOMagering worked as she won 3rd place! Should have been FIRST given the category was 5 to 8 year-olds boys AND girls. Only beat by two boys and one of them was 8….. But I kept my mouth shut ;)

Post race photo with her buddy Lolo.

Next year, perhaps I'll sign her up for the 10K option and drag her a little further ;)
