Weekend Getaway - Part II

Day Two began with breakfast at Wilma's Patio in Newport Beach.

After breakfast we met my parents in Irvine at the Pretend City Children's Museum.  Pretend City is exactly what it sounds like, a pretend city complete with a grocery store, bank, farm, restaurant, doctor's office, gas station and so much more where kids can pretend to do all the things that grown-ups do.  

 

We were there on the opening day of the Curious George exhibit.  Samantha LOVES Curious George.  We have to read out of the Curious George book each night and every morning she wants to watch the show.

At first I was surprised that Samantha was not too enthusiastic about meeting him.  She wasn't scared, just not interested.  Then I realized that he had to be one of the worst character actors I have ever seen, right up there with Santa Paws a few years ago.  He could barely walk and needed assistance from a few workers to even stand.  I am pretty sure that Sam knew he was fake or drunk, I am guessing fake.  ;)

We ended the day back at the hotel watching football, playing ping pong (I am the champion), eating pizza from Gina's and going in the pool.

Weekend Getaway - Part I

My sister and her family were visiting California from Colorado this weekend so we headed down to Newport Beach where they were vacationing to see them.  My parents also met us to hang out with us for the day.

First stop for all the boys (minus Thatcher), awesome seats at the USC vs. CAL game.  The ladies (plus Thatcher) opted for Fashion Island.   

Later we checked into The Hyatt Newport and immediately enjoyed all that the hotel had to offer. 

I never bother with trying to make Sam nap when we have plans but it is inevitable that she falls asleep before bedtime.  This is her BEFORE we even made it to dinner. 

We dined at my FAVORITE restaurant The Crab Cooker.

After dinner, it was time to hit the hot tub!

What to be for Halloween....

 We have been going in circles daily trying to figure out what Samantha wants to be for Halloween.  So far she is deciding between: Tinkerbell, Cinderella, All Seven Dwarfs (YES, she wants to be ALL SEVEN), a butterfly, an apple, a pig, a kitty cat, a flower, a princess, Curious George, all the characters from Yo Gabba Gabba and her final choice before bed tonight was a ladybug (which she was last year).

Trader Joe's Pumpkin Patch

7 Months Old

I turned 7 months old on 10/8. 

*I am starting to cruise around on furniture, although,

*I have not mastered how to get down gracefully.

*Because of this, I have yet to sleep in my crib because I keep hitting my head.

*So, my parents keep me in a Pack-n-Play.

*But, most nights I end up in my parents bed, embarrassing right?

*I love to smile and show all my teeth. I am working on my 6th tooth already.  Yes, 6 Teeth!

*I love to squeal and giggle and I am starting to make consonant sounds. 

*My Mom coaches me on "Ma-ma-ma-ma" and my Dad keeps repeating "Da-da-da-da".  Both of them don't realize that they look ridiculous doing this and I will most likely follow in my sister's footsteps and my first word will be "hi".

*I have yet to really take a liking to solid food.

*I do enjoy hanging out in the excersaucer feeding myself, and the dog, Cheerios. 

*The other day my Mom baked me a sweet potato that I thought was pretty good but it gave me bad gas.

I wonder what 8 months will bring?
