Sports Day at Peabody is a full day of competition. From sign-making, dancing, cheerleading, soccer, football, obstacle courses, handball, water activities, you name it! At the end of the day, one classroom from each grade comes out a winner. Samantha and Thatcher's classrooms did not win but a good time was had by all.
I've stopped volunteering Todd to paint the classroom team signs because we have figured out that the judges are looking for signs that the kids painted, not their parents. Whoops. Although, he did win first place last year - I think it was their way of asking him to go out on top and leave the artwork to the kids.
This was Thatcher's first Sports Day and the entire day was right up his alley. What kindergartener doesn't want to spend the school day having one big recess?! This probably applies to all grades actually.
Samantha's first activity involved water. You can't tell but it was FREEZING this particular day so it made for a painful first half of Sports Day until the sun came out.
I was super proud of Sam because every single girl from her class chose to sit out as they were too cold to participate. Sam would not stop. She was going for the win for her class.
While the girls stood by and watched, Samantha just went turn after turn through the water games to earn points for her team. She did this all with a smile and blue, frozen lips.
