Memorial Day Weekend

We love a long weekend in Santa Barbara.

A walk to breakfast where we caught Thatcher doing a workout.

He's so random. SO RANDOM!

The parents in town.

Poppy Ron.

Off to I Madonnari, the Italian street painting festival at the Mission to see our friend Meredith's artwork. Again, Thatcher being, well Thatcher.

Meredith was the featured artist this year with the BIG square at the steps of the Mission.

Every once in a while my kids make a face where they look so much a like. Like here!

And here.

And then to the new Moxi museum.

And then Lovin' Spoonful where I don't know why my kids try to take new pictures for the slide show because....

You can be there for two minutes and then start to see Samantha and Thatcher on rotation over and over. I don't think they update it very much but I like it because I can see cute photos of them when they were so little!

Next up, beach walk (we pack a lot in when my parents are here)

The next day we hung out in the Funk Zone with Jill and Adam.

Then dinner with the Paskin family where we ordered takeout and Thatcher specifically a bean burrito.

He kept making this face and saying, "this burrito tastes weird"

We realized that he was eating a stack full of tortillas that were for someone else's dinner. lol

Actual Memorial Day was downstairs Brophys and baseball.

Ending the long weekend with a neighborhood get together and then back to reality.

Thatcher's First Grade Play

Mrs. Howe's class did the sweetest first grade play called, "Tide Pool Condos"

Backdrop created by resident Peabody artist, Todd Fallon.

McKenna Stuart was adorable as "Elizabeth" who wants to build luxury high rise condos along the sea and tide pools. She dances and sings around all sorts of ocean characters who don't want her to build her condos in their habitat.

Thatcher was a fish. I didn't take much video but here are a few clips.

Sammy came to support her brother and join the after party.

Love these two sweet fish.

3rd and 1st Grade Dance Performance

One of the things I love about Peabody is all the extra programs the kids have. Besides Drama, Ceramics, Extra-P.E., Music, Art and Technology, all kids attend Dance class each week which is taught by Santa Barbara Dance Arts instructor Steven Lovelace.

Towards the end of the school year, parents are invited to see some of the routines they learned.

I mean, look at this kid. I can tell you that he absolutely LOVES it even though he has a bit of a shy half-dance going on at times he is trying the entire time not to smile. Dance is actually one of his favorite things at school and we often get dance performances at home with him showing us the latest dance he is learning.

Samantha made sure to wear her gold pants on performance day!

My "I only play sports" daughter has turned over a new leaf this past year and loves to dance! She's ready to get back into some form of dance lessons (working on how to fit that in with all the sports, duh) so for now, it's dance at Peabody. Mr. Lovelace singles Sam out all the time to compliment her on her moves. She's starting to get a bit of rhythm. Proud cheer mom over here. ;)
