First Grade and Third Grade: Winter Quarter

All the things that happened in the middle of first and third grade:

Thatcher is a boy of few words.

A sweet text from Thatcher's teacher.

He had to read 100 books in the classroom in order to go to lunch with Mrs. Howe. Fast forward to the end of the year and he was just short of the goal. When I asked him about it he said, "Yeah, I really wanted to go to lunch with Mrs. Howe but I got tired of reading." So there ya go!

Thatcher's sweet journal entry about his buddies, Lollipop, Jack and Mateo.

I thought the 100 days of school was only a kindergarten thing. We were late to the game when Thatcher told me the night before he needed 100 of something to bring to class. Neighbor and friend to the rescue, Caroline! She had just brought her 100 things home from her school so we were all set.

I kind of like that he still hasn't learned how to spell "awesome"

Thatcher had to write a letter to someone out of state in hopes they'd write him back about their weather. He wrote to cousin Dylan in Colorado and Thatcher is still waiting by the mailbox wondering where his note from his cousin is. (What's up with that Auntie Michele?!) Tell Dylan to "RITE BAK!"

I have no idea what book he chose but my guess it was unfamiliar to him too!

Crazy hair day!

Thatcher and Zoe get separated all the time for talking too much to each other.

Thatcher is a good assistant.

I love the way his mind works.

Wait, what?!

Making milk out of milk. Genius!

I feel like someone else may have written this.

Sam is going to cut back on salt.

It's fitting she said that she gets enough sleep yet didn't answer how many hours of sleep she gets each night which is definitely not enough!

Love Sam's handwriting.

Mrs. Craviotto likes to use a lot of expression when grading papers. INCREDIBLE!

He's so SO random!

Nice picture of Lollipop.

Glad he said he has a large sister and not mother.

He loves his donuts!

Ba ha ha ha, #5!

Thatcher is clearly still bent out of shape that he tied with Steve for first place in the jog-a-thon.

Alan Rose from KEYT Channel 3 news talking to the kids about being a meteorologist.

Video: They even got to be on the news!

Video: Samantha was selected to be part of a television interview for the Santa Barbara Symphony Music Van that came to the school.

Celebrating rain and look close, a rainbow!

Natural History Museum field trip.

Samantha has notebooks and notebooks full of stories and journal entries.

And here's the things I wrote down so I would remember them from parent/teacher conferences:
  • Sam is the best reader in her class (just repeating what her teacher said) ;)
  • Thatcher is the best debater in his class (part complement part not) lol
  • Thatcher has excellent sportsmanship and is often pulled out of class to help model this behavior with other kids who need work (i.e. shaking hands with opponents after a game of handball, taking turns in kickball, cheering on teammates, etc.)
Second and fourth grade are about to start in a couple weeks!
