I have an amazing husband. A husband that planned a surprise party for me, only to have a wife on the day of the surprise, cancel the "day date" he planned for the two of us. We had been out the two nights prior and I was feeling like I could use a day to do nothing. So, unbeknownst to my husband, I went ahead and canceled the sitter he got for us thinking we could reschedule for the following weekend. I did not spring this news upon Todd until a couple hours before we were supposed to leave.
Fast forward two hours and I biked my way into a surprise birthday party! Yep, Todd convinced me to go, he was VERY adamant that we should go on a date, rebooked the sitter himself and told me that once we got on our bikes and out on that beautiful day, I would start feeling better.
Well right he was!
Here I am walking into Oreana Winery very surprised and confused. Have you ever had a surprise party before? I have had a couple and just like the last time, you are standing there in front of all these people thinking, "What the heck?!" And then there is the realization that they are all there for you. And then I turned around and looked at Todd thinking, "NOW I see why you wanted to go on our date so bad!" The poor guy must have been having a heart attack when he realized I canceled the sitter and our date.
Still VERY stunned.
And shocked that the Stones were there! I actually thought I saw Chris in the winery when we pulled up on our bikes but I thought to myself, "no, that can't be Chris, they just flew in from Europe the night before. It must be someone that looks like him." Sure enough, even with having been up all night on an international flight, they came!
Here I am looking around the room and realizing all the tiny white lies that were told to me in the past few weeks to keep this from me. It's okay to lie when the outcome is a fabulous party like this! ;) It's honestly a miracle that this was pulled off because Todd can't seem to keep any secrets from me. About a week prior, his Mother's Day surprise was spoiled because I was going through his phone to get some photos off of it and saw pictures of the kids at the Bacara and thought, hmmmmmm, they must be getting me a gift certificate from there. :) That's just one example, there have been many, MANY more.
