Why not add another sport to the mix?! We officially joined Friday Night Lights this past spring.
Thatcher's basketball coach, Brian, was the coach and the team was mostly his school mates. I've literally set up a home office in my van. The middle row is actually pretty spacious and the WiFi works great! 💻
I know nothing about flag football and I am not sure I know any more after doing it for a season but it was fun.
And the outfits! Thatcher's team was definitely best dressed.
The main hype about FNL is the socializing on a Friday evening. It's true. It's like happy hour with all of Santa Barbara and the entertainment is watching the kids play football.
Thatcher's team won some. Lost some.
I'd say out of all the sports Thatcher plays, this would be the one he cares least about.
I mean, he's playing a Lite Brite mid-game, that tells ya something.
The little sisters on our team were quite adorable and obsessed with Sam.
One thing Thatcher DID love was making touchdowns. The kids are hysterical when they get one. Spiking the ball, personalized dances, high-fiving teammates, high-fiving the parents and doing victory runs across the field. Parents toast and the kids get all pumped. It's super fun!
This particular game, Thatcher went right from a baseball game to the field and had no time to change out of his pants!
Thatcher's signature play was the "fakey" where he was extra good at pretending the ball was passed to him. That always guaranteed a touchdown for our team. It never worked a second time but our coach always gave it one more try, just in case the other team wasn't taking notes. 😂
Every kid has to sit out one quarter unless there isn't enough players.
Thatcher had plenty to keep him entertained.
Oh the mouth guards...It's very hard for kids to keep them in their mouths properly. So many times kids would forgot it was around their neck, in their hand, on the grass, basically anywhere but in their mouth. The league made a killing on selling them at the snack table since they were constantly being lost. And if you were caught playing without one, penalty yards!
