Nosara, Costa Rica Part 2

The breakfast at our hotel was always SO good!

Pool time!

Okay, these things creeped me out along with all the other bugs but we all survived with the help of surrounding ourselves with...

chemicals.

Exploring around town via foot and it was HOT!

We landed here.

It was QUIET and definitely a yoga place where two kids didn't belong. 😂

Todd and I ordered a drink and the kids used the pool.

We were ruining a lot of zen moments for others so we didn't stay long.

We tuk-tuk'd it out of there and back to The Gilded Iguana which ended up being a favorite hangout for us.

It was also where the Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, was staying. We didn't become friends or anything hence the sneak photo from behind but we did chat with him for a bit about the 2028 Summer Olympic. I can't even remember how we knew it was him but he definitely seemed to be traveling with an important crew.

We ditched the tuk-tuks and did a long walk along the beach back to our hotel.

All showered and ready to head to dinner.

We did a lot of eating on this trip I am realizing.

Dinner at 10pies.

Loved the swinging bench at the table.

The rides home were so fun!

Obsessed with the decaf espressos back at our hotel each night.

Which went really well with coconut ice cream and fried bananas. 😊

Meanwhile, Lollipop was doing just fine back at home with our neighbors.

The next day was zip lining at Miss Sky, which is the longest canopy tour in the world. And I would have rather ridden the horse Playboy again over doing this because it was so damn scary.

It's a very odd feeling to watch your kids zip line ahead of you on something that high up.

Not a good look.

Not going to be our holiday card.

It was scary from the start where you hop in the back of a truck with a handful of other suckers and hold on as you climb and climb and climb up a winding road.

Does anyone look good in these helmets?!

These two, not nervous.

Only one of us, nervous.

At this point I had already done exactly what they told you not to do as far as breaking as you neared the end of the zip line. I panicked and I missed the part of my glove that is supposed to break you as you land and I burned the heck out of my hand. So I was off to a good start. Still smiling though for the camera. 😂

I forget how many of these we had to do but it took a LONG time and there was never one that I felt safe or had fun on. It was a good arm workout though because I just could not relax and hang there, I tried to lift myself up higher somehow with my non-arm muscles.

The kids and Todd loved it and their screams were of joy while mine were of terror. I kept getting made fun of because of my screaming.

I had a right to be screaming the way I was when we hit this point because our entire family ran into this tree. Our guides had to use a machete to cut down a tree, YES, CUT DOWN A TREE! The kids went first and thankfully a guide had gone with them on this one. I was right behind them, then Todd, and we were just dangling mid air until they figured out how to basically shimmy us over that tree and pull us to the ground. This poor guy had to just wait and hang until they cut the tree down.

More creepy crawling things.

I liked this part the best of the zip lining excursion because I could just watch everyone else go in this water and under that waterfall and have a break. 😂

The not so fun part of going in the water was trying to put shoes and socks back on. 😬

Our guide, Jose, was awesome and loved the kids and loved making fun of me screaming (and complaining) the whole time.

More monkeys!

Back to my happy place at Olas Verdes

Then off on another adventure!

Back to La Luna to celebrate Todd turning the big 5-0!

Last breakfast of the trip.

And then we spent the day in the water.

Our gecko friend.

Another gecko friend.

We biked to dinner to a seafood restaurant our hotel recommended, Pacifico Azul.

The kids were delirious, silly, sun-kissed and sad about leaving early in the morning the next day.

We chose a few shells to bring home.

Samantha cleaned up her bedside table.

And then we were at the airport in Liberia eating at some Rainforest Cafe-type joint with a long road ahead of us back to Santa Barbara.

Adios Costa Rica!
