Colorado with the Cousins

The week after school got out the plan was for me to take the kids on a quick trip to see their cousins in Colorado. However, the flu bug hit Samantha HARD:

This was the night before we were supposed to leave.

And this was at the doctor's office hours before we were to board the plane. I know there is no cure for the flu but I got desperate and was hoping the doc would have some magic pill to give us. He didn't. ;) He did provide us with a note for the airline so we could rebook without any change fees so that was worth the trip.

Samantha by now has gone 72 hours without any food, alternating doses of Tylenol/Motrin and then vomiting that up, and here we are at the airport. Samantha was bound and determined to see her cousins. Thatcher was thrilled with her decision.

Plane Selfies.

One of us was more into it than the other.

Oh well.

I did this.

While she did this. just kidding ;)

Well not kidding, kind of, we landed and there were some tears but still smiling. Fever back.

More Tylenol.

A rainbow on our way out of Denver airport.

Happy to be with cousins! And everyone seemed to be feeling fine again.

Especially this kid who had been waiting months to dig into this giant box of Legos!

$5 bottle of wine night at their local pizza joint, yes please!

Pizza party back at the house! Thatcher's a little excited don't ya think?

Smores!

The next day we spent the day at their community pool and the matching bathing suits were not planned.

This kid prefers to lounge in the shade and eat.

He did put his toes in the water once. The only evidence I have of him "swimming".

A little sunshine and some pool time is exactly what this girl needed!

In the evening we had a BBQ at their house with some friends.

And then more pool time the following day at a different pool.

I have to say, Samantha still was not 100% but she would never admit it. She kept saying she was fine and wanted to swim, wanted to play, wanted to do whatever cousin Lauren was doing but she was still a little weak and not herself.

No water slides or a zillion kids here which is nice for adults but the kids wanted to go back to the pool from the day before.

This kid wanted to go back to the other pool too, for the snack bar...

Samantha went down the water slide over and over again.

Much happier here, even just hanging on the chairs with the ladies.

That night we went to the Lone Tree Golf Course to meet up with Michele's friends.

And then home to these kiddos who were fast asleep.

Our quick trip was coming to an end and Thatcher's cousin had grown out of playing with Legos so (Yay us, I think…) we get to bring them home.

Some last scooter rides.

Some last texting.

A quick lunch before the airport.

Somehow I knew bringing a carry-on with a bunch of loose Legos was going to be an issue.

Especially when the x-ray machines showed there was both a dart and a razor blade in the pile. Don't ask.

Taking advantage of the airline perks.

Home to Daddy!
