Thatcher Turns 6!

Looking a bit older and taller on March 8th!

Kindergarten was spent celebrating Thatcher.

Mr. Silva goes all out on birthdays. Lots of dancing, singing and a Thatcher-themed day!

That is Thatcher in the middle "breakdancing"

I surprised him with a big birthday balloon which lasted for 2 months. Poor Lollipop, she was so afraid of this balloon. I know she's glad it finally popped.

Popsicles!

Video of some dancing and the birthday song.

Such a popular guy, fielding birthday calls over dinner.

Who knew that a dinner party at Holley's SB house would turn into a birthday party for Thatcher?!

With the world's largest cake!

So large, there was room for cake face planting!

By the entire party!

Sky is wondering why everyone is messing up the cake she happily ate.

So fun having the old crew together at Holley's house!

Caked out!

The party continued with a couple missed days of school for Legoland!

Samantha was happy because our original room didn't work out so we got to stay in the new Lego Friend's area.

Oh yeah, had to be reminded by Samantha's note. Lollipop was not feeling well so we spent half of the day in Santa Barbara at the vet before we could get on the road.

The good news is that even with arriving so late, the park was open for a couple more hours with what seemed like only 50 people in the whole entire park. It was so bizarre and amazing!

We sat on this roller coaster over and over.

Lucky Charms at the hotel bar for dinner. That's normal on vacation, right?

Day two: Ready for a full day of Legoland

Grandma and Poppy came and met us for lunch.

Happy, happy 6th birthday to Thatcher!

Palm Springs Getaway

When your neighbor texts that a group of girls are headed to Palm Springs for the weekend and there is an open spot, what should you do? Do you rearrange your son's 6th birthday trip? Miss two of your childrens' basketball games (one a championship game), a softball game (Sam's first ever) and a baseball game (Thatcher's first of the season). The answer is "you go" when you are in desperate need of a vacation.

So five of us took off to Palm Springs on a Friday morning.

We were all stocked and ready to go with enough food and drinks to never leave the property for the quick 2.5 days we were there. So upon arrival, the cocktails were flowing!

The house was as 70's Palm Springs as it gets.

The plan was to relax poolside with cocktails, read magazines and enjoy the sunshine. We followed this plan very closely.

Filaree and Juliana.

Mary and Cara.

A Saturday morning walk around the neighborhood.

Which turned into a hike of some sort up a canyon.

It's crazy how green this golf course was surrounded by such a dry, brown canyon.

I can't say it was the most beautiful hike but we all broke a sweat and felt we satisfied our exercise quota for the day.

Eventually we made it back to the good life.

Every once in a while a storm cloud like this would form and it would pour a little rain in the 80+ degree weather. It felt very tropical!

We ventured out to dinner at Tommy Bahamas Saturday evening in Palm Desert.

And a rainbow followed us back home to SB the following morning.

And rest assured, Thatcher was able to go to Legoland the following week, Sam's basketball team continued on in the league championship game bracket, Todd sent me video of Thatcher's basketball game, I've got many MANY more softball games to see Sam play with the start of the All Star season AND I ended up making it just in time to SB to see Thatcher's first season baseball game after all.

Glad I took this trip! ;)
