Halloween 2013

As I type this, our home is in transition getting ready for Christmas!

Too bad those orange lights couldn't automatically switch to twinkling snowflakes.

And that spider into Santa.  But our hanging ghosts (trash bags) are hanging on Christmas bulbs so we did multi-task a little bit ;)

Samantha's kindergarten class took a field trip to Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch in preparation for Halloween.

This little guy got to string along with us.

I actually think my kids may have outgrown the pumpkin patch.  Neither wanted to go on another day with our family like we have done in the past.  That's kind of sad....

The Sunday before Halloween we carved pumpkins.

Looks like I am more interested in carving pizza ;)

I did my best to carve the sock monkey on Thatcher's shirt.  Samantha did a good ole' fashion jack-o-lantern.

Todd's toothy pumpkin on the left and Thatcher's cute little guy on the right.

My Minion ready for Halloween at Peabody.

For those not familiar with what a Minion is, voila! Aren't they cute?! What's even cuter are the Despicable Me movies.  You should see them if you haven't already.

These girls are all in Mrs. Mulligan's class with Samantha.  Kaya (The gumball machine), Sage (Little Mermaid), Siena (Princess America) and Natalie (The Strawberry).

Each grade level at Peabody had a theme.  The Kindergarten teachers did Alice in Wonderland.

Each grade paraded around to music showing off their costumes.

There were some pretty impressive costumes walking around campus.  I liked this squid.

Elvis.

Waldo or is that Wanda?

Not sure what he/she is but looks kind of cool.

There were a bunch of these block head guys.  Not sure what they are called.

A smore.

I liked the accompanying frog on this princess' shoulder.

Security Detail (see the cord in his ear so he can talk to his peeps?)

Whoopee Cushion!

Cute duo of Thing 1 and Thing 2

A group of teachers were "Blue Tooth's" (Blue teeth on their shirts).

And here is Minion #2 getting ready for the Halloween parade at his preschool.

Teacher Celeste was "Super Busy" with post-it notes of all the things she had to get done stuck to her.  Clever, right?

Every year the preschool has a local junior high (I think it is Goleta Valley?) come and play Halloween songs so the kids can parade around and dance.

Thatcher wanted nothing to do with the band or dancing or parading.  He just shyly held my hand.

Here's a video of Sam, not quite 3 yet, dancing around at the same preschool parade.

Thatch was frozen like a statue the whole time.

Until we got to Trader Joe's and then the crazy Minion came alive ;)

Fun preschool Halloween artwork

Samantha's mummy.

And then these two Minions teamed up together.

I ordered these handmade hats from BeBe Essentials.  I found out about this company from The Gwendolyn Strong Foundation as they donate a portion of your order to the GSF.  Check out their site, they have such cute hair things and hats, all handmade!

Next up, trick-or-treating at the Paskin's

We love this tradition and their neighborhood!

The Mummys

This is blurry but us ladies are showing the Mesa how it's done on Halloween ;)  We leave before it's dark.  Do one loop around the street (the kids are still too young to understand that if they knocked on more doors they can get more candy.  All they care about is being able to eat the candy, any candy, as soon as possible).  Then we go back to the Paskin's house and eat yummy food and drinks and have a pretty good party together for a school night ;)

And then Auntie Holley so graciously gave the kids all her leftover candy and took the kids to turn their candy into cash to support the troops AND

to support their junky toy habit ;)

End of Soccer Season

So proud of the Rainbow Sharks!

And this Shark in particular!

We had our end of the season pizza party where Coach Jules gave a really sweet speech to the team.

Trophies were passed out.

And Coach Jules said something special about each girl.

She described Samantha as "Queen of the pull-back and our team's goal-scoring, offensive star!"

The girls gave a sweet thank you gift to Coach Jules.

One last Rainbow Shark cheer!

And that's a wrap!  We are excited for more soccer next year.  Next up, basketball!
