Cabo Part One

Happy! Happy!  Headed towards LAX with a stop at Dancing Grandma's house to drop off Lollipop.

I was trying to get one of those trick photos of the plane flying into Todd's mouth but both the plane and Todd were not cooperating.

The kids thought the bus ride from the parking lot to LAX was the best thing ever.  If that was their barometer for fun then things could only go up from here!

I'd fly anywhere with these kids at this age.  The person in front of Thatcher probably would beg to differ (we need to work on the kicking the seat in front of you thing) but other than that, it was easy.

We touched down in San Jose del Cabo and headed straight to The Royal Solaris.

We bypassed the sale-sy time share people at our resort and headed straight to our room to find cute little towel people.

And this view from our room.

And then we got familiar with the resort.

 First stop, the lounge.

This was Sam's best attempt at getting a photo of us so we didn't have to take one of ourselves.

This was take 25.  Much better.

Dinner in the Theater

We had no idea we would be getting nightly entertainment.

The dancing at the shows, as you can see, was equal parts inappropriate, fun, amateur, cringe-worthy, hysterical..... I could go on and on.  I couldn't help but think of my friend Holley who worked at Club Med after college.  I've seen some of her photos and I know she did some fabulous dance performances like this back in the day.  I know you were WAY better though Holley. ;)

Thatcher was not too sure about the dancers.

Yep, not impressed.

Samantha was enamored with the dancers and lost a shoe in the process of trying to get this dancer's attention for a photo.  Nice eyeshadow!

After the show we danced and had lots of fun in the lounge area.

Okay, here I am making a fool of myself.  It all started with the Macarena and then turned into some sort of Zumba dance class.  Those who know me know I was in heaven.  I was most proud of my not quite 6-year-old keeping up with everyone.  The video quality is poor but I'm fine with you all not seeing too good ;)

Up early for a morning run.  In all honesty, staying at an all-inclusive and exercising is like swimming upstream.  I am not sure I even made a dent in all that I was consuming but whatever it was vacay ;)  I am sure my awesome dance moves the night before burned some calories.

Relaxing beachfront with a pina colada.  Samantha wore Cabo well.

They had a really cool water slide area for the kids.

Our rule for being at an all-inclusive was that you could order whatever and whenever you wanted for the 6 days we were there.  After that, it was back to our rules.  Thus, Thatcher had a daily lunch of chocolate ice cream cones and saltines.

This is my vacation look....

A much needed nap before dinner.

Well not everyone would nap ;)

Remember that all-inclusive rule we gave them?  Both kids did an excellent job of over consuming Shirley Temples and other sugar-filled drinks.

On night two they put on a Disney-esque show for families.  A complete 180 from the g-string clad troupe the night before.

There was no chance Thatcher was falling asleep during this one once he saw Spider-Man.

Tinkerbell was actually a sweet girl from Australia named Frankie.  She was really great with all the kids all week.  The Entertainment Crew at the resort worked NONSTOP!  They were up early in the morning and worked late into the evening and were constantly cheerful and ON at all times.

Cabo Cinderella needs to work on her eyebrows :)

Then we danced the night away in the lounge.  Which looked about the same as the night before.  I do have a video of us dancing to a Spanish version of "Achy Breaky Heart" but I will spare you.  Just envision it being better than my Macarena.

Beautiful morning sunrise on day three.

Pre-breakfast photo

And then we spent the entire day at the pool.

Poolside BINGO!

Like I said, the crew from the Entertainment Team really made this trip a lot of fun for all of us.

Paella!

The dinner show this night was interactive.  Samantha had a blast getting on stage and playing games with everyone.

And then yep, I got on stage too.  And then yep, the camera died.  And yep, I'm glad.  Long story short, it was a Girls vs. Boys contest with various challenges which ended in a Name that Tune contest.  Their version of the game was if you knew the song they played, you then had to run up faster than anyone else, grab a gigantic sombrero, dance the "Mexican Hat Dance" AND THEN give your answer.  Well, by then you had most likely forgotten your answer or worse, do what I did, after being SO SURE of myself that I had it right after performing my hat dance (which I am sure I over-did)  I blurted out "TEQUILA"!  The song was "La Bamba".  But you know that one song that goes, duh nu nu nu nu nu NAH, TEQUILA, right?  That DOES sound like "La Bamba"!  Or so I thought.   So I made an *ss of myself, worse than my Macarena dancing in the lounge.  AND I lost the game for our team.

I drowned my sorrows the next day on a beach run which didn't happen the way I wanted it to because the sand was so soft and so deep it was un-runable so I ended up running around the resort.   It was then I knew that more people were at that show than I could have imagined because I saw people whispering and pointing at me, some even shouting "Tequila!" as I ran by.

Whatever.... stay tuned for more.
